Overview

This lovely cottage was refurbished in 2019 with the hopes of offering a comfortable stay for those after uncomplicated holidays and stunning views. With the original character of the property preserved, you get an overall sense of traditional Spain throughout.

The views of Sierra Nevada are hard to beat from the outdoor terrace. Spottable are 3 impressive mountains: unmistakably, the Veleta, Alcazaba and Mulhacen, the highest mountains in the Spanish Peninsula, close to 3,500 metres high and covered in snow for many months of the year. A beautiful sight.

Yet, that’s not all there is to it as the views go in every direction, with the countryside opening up right in front of you, rolling hills as far as the eye can see... it really is a joy to have this peaceful scenery from the comfort of your holiday stay.

Although the property is not part of our high-end offer, it does have some elements you would expect in luxury properties. It’s been designed with quality furniture, including some antiques, so don’t expect a typical IKEA-furnished property. You can tell that the owners have put some thought and effort into it.

It also offers some good facilities, beds have high quality mattresses and the Master bedroom on the first floor is ample with a super king sized bed.

The indoors has a real cosy feel to it, making it the perfect retreat for small families or a couple.

Outdoors you don’t get huge private grounds or landscaped gardens, but you are surrounded by a large, rocky terrain that extends beyond the terraces, adding up to about 1,000 m2 of land.

Nonetheless, everything you really need for a great holiday is right there, next to your doorstep: a furnished conservatory with large glass panels that open up into the terraces, an irresistible pool area with sunloungers and of course, views to die for. With everything comfortably at hand, you will be sure to find the rest you were after.

The property belongs to a small neighbourhood of villas just above Ermita Nueva, a little traditional village with a couple of unpretentious, but nice, tapas bars. You get a true sense of being off-the-beaten-track here.

The few other houses that are part of the same neighbourhood are not far but still maintain a certain distance away from each other. It still feels very rural and unspoilt.

The closest house is one that is only occasionally used by the owners. Their outdoor space faces the opposite direction from your holiday home so we did not feel that it was exposed, and needless to say, your privacy remains the same.

If you enjoy walking, it is perfectly possible to go by foot to the bars in the little village which are only 1 km away. Bear in mind though, that the walk is downhill, which means the way back is uphill – if done regularly, it is possibly more practical to use your car.

If you are up for discovering some of the local interest points, you will be able to see some of the highlights of Spain within an easy drive. Granada old town and the spectacular Alhambra Palace is one of the wonders of Spain and just 45 minutes away.

Other very worthwhile villages are also close by: the hilltop castle village of Alcala la Real is round the corner from you, Montefrío village is half an hour’s drive away and it takes 40 minutes to get to Priego de Cordoba.

But for a truly exciting day, don’t hesitate in visiting Cordoba and its mosque, just as fascinating as Granada and the Alhambra Palace, it is 1 hr 35 mins away, doable in one day and another visit you won´t regret.
