Overview
Offering full use of an extensive shared estate, this charming one-bedroom apartment is an ideal choice for couples wanting to combine an active outdoor adventure in rural Barcelona with all the comforts of a farmstead stay.
For several years we have been offering two of the other homes in this collection of five self-catering apartments. We think that this apartment is the prettiest – spaced across two floors with a roaring log fire, French doors leading to a patio, and lots of exposed brick and beam for that lovely rustic vibe.
Once upon a time this apartment formed part of the old stone barn, one of the original feature buildings on the farmstead. It has been converted and split into two attractive one-bedroom apartments, and this one is the lightest and brightest of the two. The porch offers a great splash of outside space for al fresco suppers or to enjoy your morning coffee with green views across the fields. A screen offers privacy from the next apartment meaning you can read your book or sip your wine in sweet peace.
The kitchen is a beautiful display of rustic wood and stone, with some lovely modern touches. While it misses some of the features of a full-size kitchen, it is still a great space for cooking delicious dinners, as long as you don’t need an oven or mind washing a plate or two.
The ensuite bedroom is bright and lofty, with a large bed and inviting mattress to sink down in. The rustic touches are also a welcome sight, in-keeping with the rest of the property style – such as warm terracotta colored tiles, wood and stone. The views from the bedroom are also spectacular – offering gorgeous green glimpses of the Pyrenees countryside.
The real pleasure of this mountain estate property comes from the fabulous shared facilities. With two swimming pools you have a wonderful space to unwind after long walks in the hills.
One swimming pool is indoor and heated, so even out of season you can enjoy a few morning laps or an afternoon dip.
And you are sure to want to hike, the location is truly superb, with endless wild mountainside offering only the footmarks of truffle hunters seeking the rarest mushrooms.
Alpine firs and the rising spires of the Cadi Mountains call you into the great outdoors each day. These are some of the most famous mountains in Catalonia and there are endless options for cycling, walking, paragliding, horse riding and fishing.
Of course, the locality of CA46 is specifically not built up with local shops and restaurants. There’s just a tiny village nearby (population 76) with no services apart from local growers selling their organic produce. But it's only 15 minutes to Berga, mountain capital of the region, where all your shopping needs and gastronomic desires can be met.
Access is pleasantly rapid from Barcelona: motorway all the way to Berga and then 15 minutes along a usually good, if naturally winding, mountain road. Girona Airport may look much closer on the map, but the roads are more sinuous and the journey takes about the same time.
