Overview

If you ever wanted to place yourself in the Catalonian version of Heidi, then this is it.

This is the place to spend your days sleeping beneath patchwork quilts and yodelling into the abyss of blue and green mountains.

Climbing to 950 meters means that you won’t be vying for privacy at this rustic 8-bed home; as you pass through the fairytale forest, you stumble into a brightly lit clearing occupied by a quaint 200-year-old stone property split into two levels with outdoor stairs and a roughhewn wooden balcony.

All those childhood stories come flooding back as you step inside and take in the exposed stone walls, the heavy beams holding up the ceiling, the semi-industrial kitchen, and the crackling fireplace.

You half expect Cinderella to bustle past with a mop bucket.

Rustic and seemingly austere, this charming property is not as chaste as it first appears. En suite bedrooms, Wi-Fi, and the blue pool scattered with sun loungers all bring a balance of modern comfort.

The home itself is split into two; bedrooms are in one building, and the socially active dining and cooking area in another. Whilst this may seem strange to some, we didn’t see it as being a big deal; for us, it simply meant that uninterrupted sleep and resting could be done in one place, and raucous drinking of wine and feasting could be done in another.

This also seems the perfect set-up for groups or large families seeking their own independence, although those with small children or toddlers may find it a chore.

Being in the mountains is good for the soul, and this property places you right in the heart – yet not high enough that you miss out on the balmy Mediterranean days.

There is nothing more wonderful than wandering down to the strategically placed benches in the gardens and gazing out over the tapestry of rugged hills and rising peaks that sit below.

You can see why this was a refuge retreat for mountaineers traversing the Pyrenees for so many years.

Despite feeling like you are in the lost world – civilization is not far away. Only a 15-minute drive away, you will find the pretty patisseries, juicy butchers, and good-heart restaurants of Coll de Nargo.

The duty-free haven of Andorra is also close by.

For those who want to stick with the wilderness, then you will find cool swimming holes and wildflower walks galore.

We loved the house and the location and the pool was perfect. However, the kitchen equipment could really do with an update and there were not enough coffee/tea cups. We improvised and had a wonderful time."

We loved our holiday at this villa. The rooms were spacious. We loved the pool, the butterflies and the view was incredible. If you turn off all the lights at night and look at the sky .....it is so beautiful! We found the steps to the kitchen and the balcony a little scary as we had young ones with us and I felt some mesh around the wooden fencing would have been much safer. In addition a booklet with instructions in the villa would have been useful but overall we had a wonderful. I would recommend this villa but just take care with young children ."

Rustical Update

On September 2019, the property manager informed us that he will prepare a booklet with information for guests at the house.

Denise | September | 2018

An excellent 5 days at this beautiful location. A traditional casa that was well equipped and clean with everything we needed. The pool and gardens are well kept and there was plenty of wood for the BBQ. There is a low beam at the entrance to the kitchen so mind your head (a couple of us never mastered it). This is a great place to get away from it all - so quiet with good views of the valley and night sky. The owner was very friendly and after a quick briefing (in a mix of English French), left us to our own devices. We only saw him when he came to collect the rubbish. Would definitely recommend to anyone."

Just a note to say that we very much enjoyed our holiday in CA36. Francesc, the local contact, was very helpful, and we appreciated the facilities of the house and the beauty of the surrounding area. The information and maps provided were very useful and all in all it was a great trip. Our thanks to Rustical Travel.

Great house, top location Worth is price Some remarks: some tools are mussing (scissors, glass bowls ir receipients for vegetables), sun umbrella and covers for sunloungers"

Rustical Update

I have passed the suggestions to property manager, who in turn informed us that there should be scissors at the villa, but he will check in case they are missing. He doesn't think sun umbrellas are necessary, as there is plenty of shade in the outside areas.

We very much enjoyed our stay at property CA36 (Coll de Nargo) Aug 24-31st, and would be glad to return. The property is in beautiful and peaceful setting, with well maintained pool. The owner Francesc was very helpful, and easily contactable. He gave details of excellent local walks. Suggestion for minor improvement: written info on how to put differerent sorts of rubbish into the appropriate bins for recycling. We have found the Rustical team excellent to deal with and would be pleased to use Rustical again."

Rustical Update

The property manager informed us that it is just required to separate the waste in different bags (plastic, glass, paper, etc.). Then, when the caretakers collect the waste, they take care of taking it to the correct containers. The property manager normally explains this on arrival.
