Overview

What we have here is a neat, cheerful and unpretentious contemporary style villa with luminous and comfortable interiors and good facilities. The property managers run a hotel in nearby Ronda, and it goes without saying that they know how to cater for a fantastic holiday experience: the attention to detail is good and an understanding of guests’ expectations shines throughout.

The accommodation is all on one floor, so everything is at hand here, including the outdoor dining terrace, the barbecue, the garden area and the swimming pool, not to mention the parking space. In short, a good design for easy, lazy holidays. The swimming pool has a shallow end for the little ones, and we generally found the property particularly suitable for those with children and possibly for people with reduced mobility. Pretty and easy circular walks start from your very doorstep too, for the active days!

Both bedrooms, one double and one twin, have en suite facilities and tasteful touches.

The overall impression is of neatness, simple decoration and pleasant cheerful colours throughout: very welcoming! The kitchen is well presented and equipped. The open plan living and dining area is comfortable, but the fireplace is decorative only and not in use. Worry not, there is central heating for the chillier days if you come outside the summer season.

The villa is also a great base from where to explore the beautiful and natural surroundings in the Ronda Mountains along with its charmingly traditional villages, and Ronda, which is an absolute gem: full of history and tradition, you will enjoy fantastic country views from its famous bridge and some of the best tapas in Spain. There are plenty of great restaurants to suit all pockets.

Your local village is genuine and lively Arriate, a paradise for wine lovers! It is within walking distance from your holiday villa, and there are supermarkets, café-bars and restaurants too: a taste of real Spain rural life with good facilities.

Javier was really helpful from start to finish and even helped us booking some local taxis in and out of Ronda. The house was really peaceful and has everything you need, including kitchen utensils, crockery, towels etc - we had a few meals just at the house as it was so quaint and authentic. Definitely recommend and thanks again to Javier for such a brilliant stay."

We had a great time had this house! We stayed for one week, and were able to explore the area from here (Ronda is very closeby, but also smaller villages like Setenil). The house is clean and has everything you need , but especially the garden is perfect. We came with our (big) dog, who had a great time in the garden. It’s big and completely fenced ! With a nice swimming pool and twice a week the gardeners came to clean it. We also loved walking and going for a run around the house, it is so nice and quiet and there is a nice hiking place closeby. The communication with the owner was very easy (we do speak Spanish) , he was super friendly and helpful. Great week it was !!"

We had a fantastic time. Rustical travel were exceptional with all the organisation leading up to our holiday. The holiday house was perfect for us (a couple with a baby). Lovely amount of space, clean and wonderful garden with pool. The house owner was very helpful. Good location. We had a fantastic time staying at Casa Candela. It was perfect for us. The sun shone all day, every day for the three glorious weeks we were there. The house has everything needed for a comfortable stay and Arriate is a sleepy village with jut the right amount of amenities. The surrounding area has lots to explore and we especially loved the stream that runs out of town fairly close to the house. More than anything else though, Javier was always helpful whenever we asked him any questions and generously shared the fresh produce from his garden next door. Fresh figs and plums every day! There were nearly tears when we had to leave for the long drive back to Bilbao and the ferry home. We had a fantastic time. Thanks!"

RD86 is a lovely villa, very comfortable and well equipped. The owner, Javier, was very helpful and any queries were answered promptly and he gave us plenty of info about the area. The fresh fruit and veg we were given was much appreciated and very tasty. There are fruit trees in the garden and herbs too, great if you're keen cooks as we are. The pool was very clean, the garden was lovely around the pool area but you need shoes for the rest of it as it's covered in prickly seed pods which was a shame because we couldn't throw the ball for our dogs as they couldn't walk on them. It's a short drive into Arriate down narrow, steep roads but worth it, it's a lovely small town, it's a steep walk back up though if you decide to walk in. Ronda is fabulous and we went there several times, we also headed over to the Sierra de Grazalema, fabulous views and villages! Go to Juzcar, the Smurf village for the experience. If you like photography you'll be in your element, the sunsets and wildlife are amazing, from eagles soaring overhead to centipedes we fished out of the pool to praying mantis! We would definitely book with Rustical Travel again, any questions we had were answered promptly and the booking process was smooth and hassle free. Thank you for a wonderful holiday."

Sarah | June | 2018

We had a really lovely stay in the house. It was a convenient 10 minute drive from Ronda and a very comfortable villa. The kitchen was well equipment and the hosts were helpful if we needed any help/recommendations. It would be really helpful if pool towels were provided - they did get them as soon as we asked for them - but possibly not provided as standard? The hosts live next door and were doing some building work which we did have to ask to be stopped on evening as it had been going on all afternoon. All in all a good stay - comfortable, well equipped villa, nice pool area and lots of places to sit if you need shade at any point in the day! Very close to Ronda too."

Rustical Update

The property manager informed us that the building works were a small, one-time thing that was finished on the same day. On the other hand, pool towels are provided at this property, and we have reminded him so he bears it in mind in the future.

Sevon | June | 2018

We recently stayed here for 3 weeks. We picked this villa as we wanted somewhere private with a pool that we could drive to from the UK and that would let us bring our dog (he is fairly big but very well behaved). It took weeks and weeks of research but once we found the Rustic Travel website we immediately fell in love with the photo's of this villa and had a few days of nervous waiting to see if our dog would be accepted, immediately on getting confirmation we made the booking and then spent several months looking forward to our mega road trip (three 12 hour days of driving to get there!). Did it live up to our expectations.... it totally surpassed them!! We were given a very warm welcoming by the owners, we were shown around the villa and then left in total privacy unless we contacted them for help or advice. They were extremely helpful and knowledgeable, telling us about places we might like to visit during our stay or where to find something we might be looking for. They were friendly, helpful and very genuine caring people, it mattered to them that we had the best of holidays. The villa is wonderful, peaceful and private, the pool is perfect and the gardens are beautiful. You are off the beaten track but close enough to walk to the local village or a 10 minute drive gets you into the heart of Rhonda which is an amazing town with so much to see and do that at the end of 3 weeks we felt there was still so much we hadn't seen or done! We had arrived feeling stressed and tired, by the end of our stay we were relaxed and rejuvenated. We left genuinely sad that we had to go, and spent 3 days driving back home. All we talked about on the way was the little bit of heaven we had just experienced. Guess what.. we got home 2 weeks ago and have already booked another 3 weeks for next year, we are already counting down the days!! An amazing experience in an amazing place. Thank you Rustic Travel for the great service, and thank you Marion and Javier, looking forward to seeing you again next year. Sevon, Bernie and Bailey."

We spent 12 days at this villa and loved it .....plenty of room for two couples and the pool area was perfect. We walked into Ariate several times for dinner which is a pleasant 20 minute walk . We would certainly recommend le Meulles by the railway station but booking is advised because it is so popular. Javier was very helpful and suggested we used a local taxi driver Antonio who picked us up from the village for 8 euros - he also took us into Ronda on festival day and picked us up promptly later in the day. Ronda is a special place and we went into town several times as it is an easy 10 minute drive from the villa. We travelled further afield to the villages of Gaucin, Zahara and Grazelema and also walked the Caminto Del Rey gorge at El Chorro which was breathtaking this can be booked beforehand online but don't bother with a guide not needed to thoroughly enjoy this fabulous area. All in all a great holiday, a great villa and we had great company so couldn't fault it !"
