Overview

Designed with love and care as an exceptional holiday retreat, an excellent level of comfort and quality has been achieved in this villa situated in a splendid setting in deep beautiful Andalucian countryside. It does not come as a surprise that the owners are architects themselves: their very best ideas have been put into practice at this extraordinary holiday home.

Spaces are ample, bright and airy, with quality furnishings throughout and great attention to detail, making it all live up the expectations of a wonderful luxury villa experience.

The villa is beautifully appointed and arranged around a solid idea of enjoying superb outdoor living. Indoors the villa is magnificently presented and equipped too.

Located in a semi tropical spot and in a large finca, it enjoys full privacy and the soothing tranquility of the fabulous views, including a glimpse in the distance of the Mediterranean sea on clear days.

The property is decorated with fine taste and good understanding of expectations at a luxury villa. Except for Bedroom 4, it is all conveniently arranged on one floor, with French doors opening to well equipped porches.

The good taste on deco is also present in the bedrooms, which are equally excellent in terms of comfort, ticking all the boxes for a proper night's rest.

Special mention goes to the remarkably appealing master bedroom, complete with an extra large square bathtub and large windows opening to the gorgeous views of the wooded valley.

The terraces are gated from the pool area, slightly below. The pool is a good size for proper swims and not overlooked, so privacy is excellent while natural shade is provided by an old and rustic olive tree.

The spacious country kitchen is one of the major attractions of the villa, with a fabulous kitchen island as a focal point and completely equipped with possibly more than you will need. It conveniently opens straight to the furnished and shaded porch and terraces, making meals outdoors a very attractive prospect.

The villa is located at the bottom of the valley, where the climate is mild and mountain breezes normally allow for lovely cool nights even in the peak summer season. Despite the higher mountain ranges in the background, the climate here can be described as semi tropical, and when you stroll through the extensive gardens and lawns you will find some exotic tropical vegetation including an unexpected banana tree. You can pick your own fruit when on season.

The Gaucin location is yet another highlight, an easy 8 minute drive from the villa. You can also embark on a beautiful walk to Gaucin village or discover the surrounding Mediterranean woods. Proper pathways from your very doorstep.

Drive 30 minutes for beautiful sandy beaches and 45 to visit Ronda, one of the most famous and visited traditional towns in southern Spain.

Rosana | July | 2023

Hi, I think that you should make it clearer that the drive down to the villa is extremely step, and that the gardening team cut the bushes on the side of the drive and left the cutting there, consequently we’ve had a puncture in the car. Most mornings the horse was down next to the pool, and Poo on the side of the pool. I reported it but it stayed there all the time. The pool garden guys never showed up all the time, ( horse Poo on the front driveway probably still there) But, the villa was very nice and relaxing- there was nothing in your description that mentioned there was an extra charge for the air conditioning, luckily we never used it. Small gripe - there was no large towels! Apart from that we enjoyed it"

Rustical Update

In July 2023 we followed this up. The location of this property on Rustical Travel site is detailed and mentions the access is steep. The additional costs for air conditioning are also clearly described not just in the facilities but also in the essential booking information and were also shown in the booking process. The property owner confirms they have no horses, but a horse escaped from another estate, and this issue is now sorted. According to the property manager, the pool maintenance guy comes early in the morning to avoid disturbing guests and remain unseen.

Well equipped house in a perfect location. Totally peaceful, with amazing views only 5 minutes from Gaucín."

What a wonderful holiday. The property was isolated enough so we were not worried about the kids making noise in the pool. There was so much space, two families living side by side did not feel cramped at all. Everything was beautifully clean and tidy. And the view... absolutely magical."

Gorgeous setting with a beautiful view. Large property with lots or space and very well equipped. The pool is large and the boys loved playing in it. The only thing I would say is be aware of the steep long drive into the property and ensure you have a the right car. It’s very steep in parts."

Perfect family villa. Great pool, lovely large veranda for eating and games. The driveway is difficult to manoeuvre - but you can get used to it, and it’s worth it for the views and privacy. The host was excellent and gave us all the help and advise we needed. A magical stay and we cannot wait to come again!"

Lovely villa and very good service all round. Only criticism would be regarding the heating - it was quite cold at times in January and required the very inefficient AC heating to be on much of the time. We were charged for the full amount of electricity consumption which was not cheap."

Absolutely amazing villa in its own wooded valley, silent but for the braying donkey next door. Pool and covered veranda particularly special, and swimming in late October not a problem for excited older kids on holiday. We've been to this area for many years, and this has been the best all round villa, amazing for our first Covid pandemic holiday abroad! The private road down is well cared for but very steep, think about this if booking car hire. My comments would be that the smell created by use of the master bathroom shower did reoccur twice (as per others' comments). I think guests would prefer to have more drawers to use in the huge, well stocked kitchen so they can put their own food away. Many drawers are filled with random kitchen utensils and old pots, which need some clearing out! A cafetera should be supplied for guests, but our hosts kindly supplied us with one very quickly when we asked. A lovely family holiday house, thank you!"

The views from this house are breathtaking. The open plan layout of the kitchen and lounge is really great ,and the outside covered terrace is where we spent most of our time. The pool is down quite a few steps but beautifully located and we just took cooler bags for the drinks. Although the property is close to Gaucin it is down a really steep road which snakes along for about 1.5Km. We can imagine during the winter if this road gets wet it could be difficult to negotiate. We had a wonderful stay."

We really enjoyed our stay in the property, it is an impressive house set in a beautiful valley with far reaching views. A great place to unwind with family and friends. I have left a rating of Very Good, which puts to one side the maintenance issue which should be addressed urgently: hydrogen sulphide gas comes back up the drains into the house, leaving an unpleasant rotten eggs smell, a warning that you're inhaling a noxious gas - we had the windows open all the time to make it safe."

Rustical Update

In October 2021 we were confirmed by property owner that the drain issue reported was fixed.

Lovely site, but maintenance is not what it should be for a luxury property. For example, the outdoor gas grill was very old, with corroded burners that did not fully function. Also, the pool skimmer and vacuum system does not work and needs to be replaced."

Rustical Update

On an update in May 2021, the property manager informed us that the pool system has been totally renovated (includes things like skimmers and tiles).

In the same update we are informed that a new Weber barbecue is being delivered (May 2021).

Booking service very easy and straight forward. My emails were always answered. Good description of the villa, although its worth mentioning the steps leading to and from the pool, it might not be suitable for older people? Stunning views and swimming pool. Bathrooms of very high standard. One improvement that could be made is the BBQ - it was adequate for a family of 4 but would be a struggle to cook on for a larger group. Also the WiFi kept coming going (I can imagine the connection is poor up in the hills)? This might not be a problem for some people but if having to do some work remotely (and make use of Netflix’s for the kids) it gets a little frustrating. Will definitely use Rustical Travel again. Thank you."

Rustical Update

On an update in May 2021, the property manager informed us that the WiFi is normally stable and with good signal, so perhaps the WiFi was in the past more unreliable.

In the same update we are informed that a new Weber barbecue is being delivered (May 2021).

We had a wonderful holiday at RD85. The villa is set in a stunning location. The pool was loved by all members of the family, both young and old. The villa is extremely comfortable and luxurious. The only negatives to a brilliant stay were (a) the drive which is pretty hairy to negotiate and (b) the air conditioning which was a little ineffective and could do with updating. Overall we considered the villa to be 9.5/10"

Rustical Update

On May 2021 we are informed by the property managers that new aircon has been installed at this property.

Dear Carlos and Rustical Travel Team, Generally, we felt our stay was very positive. The house is in a perfect, quiet location and offers a wonderful view. We arrived at the villa in the middle of the night. The next morning, we just said: Wow! The facilities and equipment are excellent. We are also very satisfied with your agency. Our booking was processed quickly and reliably. Thank you for your professional service! For garden design we would suggest additional plants (for example bougainvillea, hibiscus, frangipani …). However, we experienced the caretaker as not very attentive. We would have expected an enquiry if everything is okay, at least a reaction to our mail that we lacked kitchen towels to dry the dishes. On the day of our departure we found it quite disturbing that the caretaker and the cleaning lady arrived half an hour before the specified checkout time. All in all, however, we are very happy with the holiday home.

Jane | July | 2017

Beautiful villa, in a beautiful fairly remote, rural setting which lived up to expectations. The setting however did come at the expense of a very steep access road which made travel on foot or bike from the villa (particularly in July) virtually impossible. I was also a little disappointed that there were no paths for walking directly from the villa as described, without having to overcome this steep access road .Villa was very well equipped and tastefully furnished, very comfortable with lovely outside spaces. Couple of minor suggestions for improvement would be an upgrade to all mattresses in all bedrooms and an upgrade of bed linen used. Also air conditioning in top bedroom would be advantageous."

Rustical Update

On April 2019 we were informed by the property manager that the mattresses have been renewed.
