Overview
It's so private, beautifully hidden away on its own in a wooded garden, you wouldn’t think you’re just three minutes' walk from Gaucin.
The cottage is remarkably spacious for a one-bedroomed property, nicely furnished and has a partly-shaded terrace facing south-east with views out over the hills to the Mediterranean Sea.
The house is a new build, yet it feels very much integrated with the natural surroundings, hillside populated with cork oak and olive trees, and situated on a walking trail. Great for hikers and also for birdwatchers, who will know that Gaucin and the Ronda mountain area in general has plenty of birdlife.
The accommodation is open-plan, with large, terracotta-floored spaces under a vaulted wooden ceiling. The living room (an impressive 40 m²) has sliding doors out to the furnished terrace where you can eat out, and there is a dining area inside, of course. The kitchen is compact but well-equipped.
The house is suited to winter holidays, also, with a large woodburning stove that soon warms it up on the few days that the sun doesn’t shine and at nighttime.
Mostly this is a sunny, warm location. It's very private and you have two sunloungers to relax on outside.
Note that car access is somewhat steep and narrow, but perfectly negotiable in a normal car. You have private parking by the house, but if you want to go into Gaucín village, it can be just as easy to walk (uphill, but only three minutes).
The beaches – and golf for the aficionados – of the Costa del Sol are just half an hour away and walking opportunities abound. Gaucín itself has some wonderful walks: an interesting circular route is included in the Gaucin guide you will receive as one of your holiday documents. Not far away are three Natural Parks: Sierra de Grazalema, Los Alconorcales and Sierra de las Nieves.
Location
Whitewashed village on top of a hill in the Ronda mountains area with views down to the sea.
On the edge of the white village of Gaucin (shopping, tapas bars, banks, restaurants) 3 minutes walk away (uphill) from village. The access is steep and narrow at places, so possibly best to hire an ordinary car and avoid large vehicles or tiny ones with low engine power.

YOUR REVIEWS
Everything about the holiday was perfect. The preparations, instructions and support we received from Rustical Travel was above and beyond what we expected. The cottage was beautiful, just like the pictures. Comfortable, well-appointed and the host had even left a welcome gift of some food for our arrival. Gaucin was an amazing place to stay too. All in all, can only recommend."
+ Read moreEsther was an amazing host from start to finish. We loved the casita it was everything we wanted and more...loved the fire at night spring sunshine during the day ...Best way to relax ...and only a 5 min walk into the village...perfection. A note for anyone else reading this review please be aware access to the property by road is very difficult and would suggest a very small car as these roads are steep and narrow ."
Rustical Update
In October 2024, we were informed that the town hall improved some streets and made them wider, and there is now an easier alternative way to drive to this property. We still recommend ordinary cars (not large vehicles neither tiny cars with no power/small engines).
The house was good for two people and in a lovely location. Very quiet and peaceful but it is difficult to access except with a very small car. Good location for those interested in walking who are very fit. The area is very hilly and many walking routes are rough. The town of Gaucin is beautiful and the people are friendly. The owners of the house were helpful and friendly. Unfortunately the internet did not work for us while we were there."
Rustical Update
In May 2024, the property managers confirmed that they had switched internet providers, and now the WiFi is operating smoothly.
The property was lovely, ideal for us, and Gaucin made a great holiday base due to all the restaurants and bars and local shop. However access was difficult being very narrow, steep and winding. We parked in the town, which kept us fit!"

+ Read moreGaucin is a great village in amazing countryside, with fabulous restaurants. The cottage has amazing views, is well-equipped, spacious and great value. It is a 10 min walk from the centre though the hill is very steep! A wonderful location for a walking or touring holiday."

+ Read moreMay I thank all at Rustical with their help in suggesting this property for our holiday. We were introduced to a really wonderful part of Spain, yet again, and the property was up to the usual outstanding standards we receive from Rustical.Again many thanks to all the team and we look forward to continue dealing with you in the future.
+ Read moreWe loved both this property and Gaucin and the weather was mid-20s so perfect for a late November break. The drive to the property is not for the faint-hearted and a small car is advisable as you do recommend in the property details. The only negative point I would raise was the cooker cooker hood had not been cleaned for a good while and the smell of stale rancid fat was (particularly for vegetarians) unpleasant. But this was a small issue when everything else was so excellent!"
Rustical Update
We have contacted the property manager to inform her about the cooker and cooker hood so she can clean it in depth.
We loved the house and the location. Loved the owners. Such Nice people! More than we expected. We will use Rusticaltravel more in the future. Thanks.
+ Read moreNice villa, lovely open plan layout, with a functional kitchen, comfy bedroom and brilliant shower! Navigating the village in a car is a bit hair raising to begin with, but you soon get used to it. However, the hill down to, and up from is definitely not for inexperienced or nervous drivers! And would suggest unnavigable for anything larger than a small car. The garden is nice but could be better maintained ( unless you like the 'wild' look) and there is a small patio with a couple of sun loungers to enjoy the dappled sunlight through the trees. WiFi didn't work when we were there, but for us, that was no problem at all. A big bowl of fruit was waiting for us when we arrived and a small loaf of bread, some butter and milk - nice touch. All in all, we very much enjoyed the villa despite the access/ egress hill. Definitely value for money, and would definitely recommend for location. Gaucin is lovely, as are the surrounding mountains, valleys and white washed villages."
+ Read moreOnce again, our week off the beaten path in Spain, as well as our experience with Rustical Travel were both beyond expectations and the highlight of our trip. We enjoyed Gaucin very much and the casita was perfect. Bret (or is it Brit?) was a very helpful, friendly host. We won't be able to return to Spain for a few years (unfortunately), but will definitely plan another week's stay with Rustical Travel, probably in the Granada area. (Or perhaps you'll have a property in Extremadura by then?) Again, thanks for the wonderful experience and we look forward to another Rustical stay in the future."
+ Read moreWe are very impressed by the Rustical service. We had a wonderful holiday at the Casita - it was just about perfect for us.
+ Read moreThe house was beautiful - just as described. Gaucin and surrounding villages lovely with very friendly people."
+ Read moreThe house was a spacious, clean and well appointed and just as described. The only concern that I feel should have been mentioned was that, although a relatively short distance to the town centre, it was at the bottom of a steep climb. Walking into town became a chore rather than a pleasant experience."
