Set in the hills just outside Gaucín, this rustic country cottage offers a peaceful and scenic retreat with exceptional views of the whitewashed village and its castle — also magical at night when the castle is illuminated.
The property is simple rather than luxurious, but its charm lies in the setting, privacy, and practical features. With air conditioning in all bedrooms and three bathrooms, it’s a comfortable option for families or small groups.
One of the main highlights is the 10-metre private pool, positioned conveniently beside the main patio. This makes for a sociable layout and allows easy access to both lounging and swimming areas. Multiple terraces offer shaded spots for al fresco meals or quiet moments with a book, all surrounded by inspiring countryside.
Given the hillside setting and various outdoor levels, some families may feel the property isn’t ideal for small children, particularly if close supervision is a concern.
From the house, a short walk leads to a quiet mountain shelter with dramatic views reaching across to Gibraltar, the sea, and even Morocco on a clear day. Walking to Gaucín is possible — just over 30 minutes each way — though it’s a proper hike down and back up the mountain, best attempted in milder weather.
Guests should be aware of the 1-kilometre rural track that leads to the house. It is accessible with a regular car if taken with care, though a vehicle with higher clearance is recommended.
If you can tear yourself away from the peaceful setting, the region offers plenty to explore. Gaucín itself has all the essentials, along with a castle and a selection of restaurants.
The artistic mountain village of Genalguacil and its surrounding natural beauty provide a wilder inland contrast. Meanwhile, the lively Costa del Sol beaches are just 30 minutes away by car, and the quieter Atlantic coast can be reached in under an hour.
This is a property for guests who value nature, space and tranquillity over formality. It’s ideal for a rural holiday that combines privacy with views and access to both the countryside and coast.
Location
In the early folds of the Ronda mountains, not far from the Mediterranean Sea (Costa del Sol).
In open countryside, about 3 km from the village of Gaucin (or 2 km on foot). Access is via a 1 km unmade road. Part of the track is bumpy; we recommend an ordinary car with high clearance (e.g., Fiat Doblo, Volkswagen Caddy, Peugeot Partner, or any SUV vehicle).

The views from every spot are spectacular, and the silence is only broken by birdsong or the distant passing of a flock.Gaucín is very close and is a lively village with good restaurants and friendly people. From there, it’s easy to explore other towns and natural spots nearby. Despite the high temperatures, the house stayed cool, and the air-conditioned bedrooms were a relief. Everything was immaculate. We felt at home from the very first moment. We would definitely return.
