Private spot for relaxing holidays 5 mins walk away from pretty village

The location is stunning. The views are amazing. You are never bored as the view is ever changing. The couple who own and manage the house are warm and welcoming. If you want a do nothing break this is the place. After a busy seven days touring the house and location hit the spot. Things to consider. The are flights of steps all over the house and grounds. There were no night lights so getting up in the night to visit the bathroom or kitchen was tricky. The lower bedroom bed has no headboard so sitting up in bed was not possible. Something we like to do. The pool is very deep so you cannot stand and take in the view. It is a five star location along with owners, being an older couple it fell short in a few areas."

We had a wonderful stay at El Refugio! The property was well equipped and the location was second to none. It was wonderful to be able to walk into the village to shop or eat, but to have the peaceful solitude overlooking the valley and the coast when we came back. Jonas and Elizabeth were very friendly and welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would definitely recommend it!"

El Refugio is the perfect Spanish retreat that offers peace, serenity and the most spectacular panoramic vista. It’s private setting on the edge of Gaucin makes it a truly special Villa that has to be stayed in to be fully appreciated. 10/10."

We loved this place. The quiet, the views, the house, the pool and watching the birds across the valley all allowed us to unwind and relax completely. Elizabeth and Jonas are the best hosts, ensuring we could get our bearings in beautiful Gaucin, and that we had everything we needed - even a cocktail shaker! We are sure to return and in the meantime, we will think of this magical place every time the reality of everyday life feels a little bit too much."

Jonas and Elizabeth's villa in Gaucin is a little piece of heaven tucked away in beautiful Spainish hills. I'm almost tempted to keep quiet it was so good, to make sure that there will be availability when we return (which we will). The views are spectacular, the house incredibly well set up, comfortable with everything you could wish for. Jonas and Elizabeth were perfect hosts, accomodating, helpful and also gave us all the space we wanted. Gaucin is a lovely place with lots of good food, bars and restaurants. 10/10, we will be back."

This place was perfect. The view is sensational and you can watch it all day. Equally, inside has been done really nicely — so many lovely touches. Kitchen is well equipped, and it's a short walk, pleasant walk into the village for supplies. Would definitely book again."

We enjoyed the warm welcome and the guided tour through Gaucin, the helpfulness, the so lovingly furnished villa with its pretty garden, the overwhelming view, the unbelieavable silence, the landscape, the great andalusian cities, the nice village Gaucin with its nice inhabitants, the birdwatching in Gibraltar and from the terrace, the beautiful evening with Elizabeth as singer at La Fructuosa, the tasty food and the spanish wine, and of course also the visits of Deefer.
