Overview

This traditional Asturian cottage was tastefully renovated to a high standard in 2019.

Completely refurbished inside and out, you can tell a lot of planning and thought went into the whole creative process. The final result is a holiday accommodation with personality, nice homey touches and minimalist elegance throughout.

The location is also outstanding; a place that will allow you to discover Northern Spain’s wonders and several of its hidden gems.

It is therefore the perfect holiday choice for those seeking a real Spanish experience without losing out on comfort and style.

Pretty beaches are just 10 minutes away by car, and if you are one to be on the hunt for unspoilt stretches of coast, you will be delighted to learn that some of Spain’s top ten voted Atlantic beaches and fishing villages (polls created by the national press) are also less than a 20 minute drive away from your holiday home.

The property indoors was hard to fault during our visit so we listed plenty of positives. Some highlights: the ample, modern style kitchen, the comfy sofas and its different lovely lounges with views to socialize with family or friends. Imagine sitting down for a gin & tonic at the mini bar on the first floor lounge looking towards the forests over a chat … a real treat!

We also adored the attic Master bedroom; the kind of room you would expect to find in a boutique hotel.

The house has 4 bedrooms for 8 guests, but the sitting room on the ground floor provides a sofa bed which means it can actually be turned into an additional double bedroom, increasing the total capacity to 10 guests.

The children’s bedroom has a triple bunk bed, perfect for groups with younger kids who prefer to sleep together.

Overall, it is a great retreat for families. The setting is a hamlet that is as quiet as you would expect, with all the tranquillity you are after. Youngsters will enjoy the flat easy garden at the property to run around freely and the games´ room with billiards is also a fantastic addition for adults and children alike.

For outdoor dining, the wooden table and chairs that sits on the terrace is best suited for up to 6 people to eat all at once but the barbecue is large and fit for grilling food for 10 hungry diners.

The drive to the local village for your shopping is very convenient. At only 3 kms away, it would take you less than 5 minutes to get there. In addition to some supermarkets, you will also find some authentic bars where you can enjoy excellent homemade meals at inexpensive prices.

Venture out for a walk from your doorstep and you will come across a river that is well-known for trout fishing among the locals. We are unsure how practical the nearer locations are for wild swimming but there is bound to be certain spots for this along its course. With local beaches so close-by however, you won’t feel like you’re missing out on your summer dips, either way.

And even if you love Asturias as much as we do and are happy staying locally, you may fancy visiting a slightly different culture for a change. If so, the Galicia region has its own language, food and traditions, and it is just over 30 minutes away.

You should not expect to find a touristic national park nearby, but we believe this is actually one of the highlights of staying here. The overstated nature is simply everywhere: wild rivers, thick forests, rolling hills and higher mountains, all without the crowds. And a few kilometres away, the unspoilt Atlantic coast with sandy beaches and fishing villages… a bundle of goodness is waiting for you!

Rustical Tip: a local highlight is to walk along the cliffs of Busto Lighthouse; the views are terrific.

Welcome to the magic of Asturias…

YOUR REVIEWS

Clare | July | 2022

The house is beautiful and very stylish. It has nearly everything you could hope for, apart from wifi or mobile reception (which the teenagers struggled with!). It is quite remote, but there are beautiful towns and beaches nearby (car essential). The hosts are brilliant, very helpful and keen for us to have a great time. They shared lots of nice suggestions and booked a restaurant for us (we don't speak Spanish)- we felt they really cared. Booking with Rustical was easy ."
