Overview

Perched in the midst of fragrant pine forests, tangled vineyards, and the first folds of the Pyrenees – this bright one story farmhouse is the perfect home away from home.

There seems to be a quaintness that clings to this home, with its sloped ceiling, exposed old stone work, and traditional log fire.

You can almost imagine getting up in the first slant of sun to milk the cow. There are no cows here, only wonderful walks down to the gurgling river or to sit peacefully in the shadows of the Santa Maria Chapel.

What we like about this house is how fresh and airy it is.

The kitchen is well equipped and clean with an open plan feel highlighted by oak beams etched across the white ceiling.

The trestle dining table is long and dark and a great spot for breaking bread and sipping old world wine with the family.

The living space a refreshing dose of sunshine with generous windows and pale wooden floors.

Each of the four bedrooms offer en suite facilities with rustic & stylish bathrooms boasting gleaming porcelain and walk in showers.

The attention to detail is excellent; this is a place that ignites the senses with everything being soft and smooth to the touch.

The views from each and every window are simply stunning; think dirt tracks disappearing into cloaked forests, picnic benches in the shade, and wheat fields giving way to green and blue foothills.

Outside the swimming pool provides cool relief from the afternoon sun, and the shaded walks close by mean that you can gallivant around the countryside without getting sunstroke. There is also a couple of tables on the exterior that can sit 6 or 8 guests comfortably.

Like the rest of the house, the pool may also suit those with some reduced mobility especially given that the property sits all on one level and one of the bedrooms is adapted for reduced mobility clients.

The owners occasionally live in separate house below your holiday home, with a separate entrance. You are not overlooked here, you enjoy excellent privacy.

Wine lovers are sure to find their delight; the property owners come from generations of grape growers and the ancient vineyards across the way are ripe for the picking.

Close by you can sample Catalonian cuisine with a range of good restaurants, and for those who want to embrace farmhouse life there is also a supermarket and butcher very close within range.

With Barcelona and the salty swell of the Mediterranean only an hour away you can soak up the best of both worlds.

Laurence | July | 2024

What a fantastic house, location and experience. From start to finish the wonderful owners were on hand to help with any and all questions from the best places to eat to the best parking spots in Girona. The area is beautiful with so much to do and on the days you don't want to explore the house and pool proved to be the most relaxing and stunning location imaginable. I would highly recommend this property, the bedrooms and living accommodation are so welcoming, spacious and well thought out. 5 stars all the way."

Dominique | July | 2023

For the price, this is an amazing property. Beautiful old farmhouse, built against the hillside to catch the breeze all day so stays relatively cool, nice outside space with good bbq with materials, and refreshing small pool with sun loungers. Easy drive to Barcelona, Girona, the monastery and Sierra mountains north of Barcelona, also near Oyrenees foothills. Comfortable beds pillows, renovated spacious bathrooms, sizable kitchen with all needed cooking implements, a little lacking in furniture but really amazing value for money given it can house up to 12 people comfortably. Would go again for sure."

Mary | August | 2022

The house was great, had everything we needed. There were lovely walks from the house and Marie and Joan were fantastic hosts. It might be a good idea to remove the ‘excellent restaurant’ recommendation in l’ametlla de merola from your online listing as it has closed."

Alison | August | 2022

We had a warm and helpful welcome from Marie. The property was immaculate and beautiful in a peaceful setting. It had everything we needed for a relaxing family break for nine of us and never felt crowded. We enjoyed a wonderful visit to Joan and Marie’s family vineyard; their wines are fabulous! We would happily return and would also happily recommend to others."

We had a very nice time in the villa and in the region. We were charmed by the history of the place, the forest next door, the cool simmingpool, the owners and the privacy of the spot. Thank you all for the help en flexibility."

We were very grateful to Rustic Travel for accommodating our last minute request (with only 1 day notice) to stay and we couldn't believe our luck to have happened upon such a perfect house, location and host, for the very peaceful week we desperately needed to relax and unwind as a family. A terrific location to visit Monserrat Monastery, Cardona Castle and a true highlight was visiting the host, Joan's family vineyard. We have very happy memories of our stay and would love to return."

Inés | July | 2020

We really enjoyed the location and the house, its amenities etc. Hosts were great, welcoming, they took the time to explain everything to us (house and surroundings, we really appreciated it). Only improvement possible in our view is a larger shaded spot outside to enjoy being outside more (parasols, shaded tent...), and a solution (even glue or spray) anti-flies and anti-mosquitoes for the bedrooms and the kitchen - it was a little inconvenient. Thank you and take care!"

Hosts were fantastic. We loved the remoteness, yet we were not far from a town with good facilities. Kitchen was well equipped."

It was a fantastic experience to be there: a fantastic vue from the house and outside. Everything it was there, good wifi (just cat. and spanisch tv but we didn't miss it at all). The kitchen has everything you need, lamps for reading etc. It is a cool house too and very clean! Joan and Marie were so nice to let us see the house where they make the pic de poule wine; a real museum. Marie en Joan have also very good tips. They speak English, French very well. it is nice for 2 but also for 8. Anne"

We had an amazing stay, the farmhouse and views were stunning. The pictures of the house and surroundings cannot be fully appreciated unless in person...better then the pictures. I would recommend this place. The hosts were also amazing and so responsive. We are already planning another trip back."
