Overview

Situated by a running river, this happy self-catering rental cottage was built on the bakery site for one of the old water mills in the pretty green valley.

Ideal for people who want that get-back-to-nature experience but without roughing it, it's just a few minutes drive from Grazalema village in the heart of the Natural Park of the same name. A rural path allows you to walk to the village in about 45 minutes.

No, it does not have a private pool for the hotter months, but the local swimming pool in the village or the natural swimming in Zahara lake (La Playita de Zahara) may really delight you on hot days and be a way for little ones to socialize. These swimming facilities are just a short drive away.

The other option is finding spots in the river next to the property for dips; it is wild here!

The house is ample and airy, with 280 m2 and plenty of space.

There is no air conditioning, but during our visit, we were shown how thick the walls were and explained the house is very well-built and insulated. We were told there are fans in case the heat is oppressive. There is usually a comfortable breeze in this valley.

The outdoor furnished terraces are superb spots to read a book, relax and have a drink. The gardens looked very pretty on our visit, and we thought the setting was inspiring for nature lovers who love unspoilt Mediterranean mountains.

Above all, this is a great place to disconnect, with marvellous opportunities to go rambling in the Natural Park, visit the caves and enjoy the beautiful old Ronda Mountains village of Grazalema, with its restaurants and bars and home-made spa facility.
