  • Check-in time: 4 pm – 10 pm (not flexible); Check-out time: 10 am.

  • Events may be permitted on request. Please ask.

  • Obligatory costs not included and which has to be paid locally:

  • 1-A final day cleaning charge of 345 € for main mansion house (or 430 € in case an event has been accepted and held at the property).

  • 2-A winter fuel charge of 600 € per week from November to March.

  • Optional costs:

  • 1-Swimming pool heating is available at 500€/week (April to October) and 600€/week (November to March). Must be requested and paid in advance at least 2 weeks before the booking.

  • 2-Additional cleaning, if required, catering or babysitting must be arranged in advance (payable in cash directly to the staff providing the service)

  • 3 -The converted olive mill is available to hire by separate arrangement.

  • A special, refundable security deposit of 1,500 € is applicable to all bookings. On arrival, you sign an open credit card slip which is torn up 6 weeks after the booking, subject to deductions for breakages and damage.

  • Cancellation policy for this property, the following cancellation charges apply: more than 63 days before the booking start date, the non-refundable deposit only; 51-62 days, 50% of the total booking value; 36-50 days, 75% of the total booking value; 35 days or less, 100% of the total booking value.

  • A refundable security deposit of 1500 euros applies to this property. This sum is payable to the keyholder on arrival (by credit card swipe) and subject to deductions for breakages/damage, unpaid local charges (when applicable) or exceptional cleaning.

Overview

The luxurious palatial residence dates back to 1492, when the King and Queen of Spain had just retaken local Granada from the Moors and were receiving an ambitious sea captain called Christopher Columbus in the Alhambra palaces.

Since then it has been developed and refined into a magnificent country mansion, complete with tennis court, spring-fed swimming pool (heatable on request), marvellous Moorish-style ornamental gardens and a graceful private chapel that is available for blessings at wedding receptions.

It tends to be rented by large groups of family and friends for a week’s holiday in outstanding accommodation, but also for special group retreats or workshops, small business conferences and wedding receptions.

The entire property is offered on a self-catering basis, although catering staff can be hired locally if required.

The location is a warm, tranquil valley just half an hour from Almuñécar on Granada's Costa Tropical, easily reached from either Granada or Malaga Airport. It's fairly close to but not in Las Alpujarras and we include it in that area for convenience.

The climate is typically hot and sunny and outdoor spaces in the mansion grounds are as popular and appreciated as the indoor facilities. There are impeccable gardens with walkways, broad terraces, valley and hillside views, ancient palm trees, a summer bar by a hard-surface tennis court and a cypress-bordered swimming pool. The main terrace is perfectly suited to sunbathing and has views of the valley and the nearby village of Otivar. Al fresco meals can be taken in a vine-shaded area of the terrace.

The mansion has been renovated with admirable taste and respect for its historical character and atmosphere. Furnishings include items belonging to the original Marquess. It is a luxurious property in a traditional way, retaining its original Spanish character. An entrance hall leads to the grandest of drawing rooms with a vaulted ceiling and large, central fireplace. This leads onto a long dining room, where all your guests can sit together for formal or informal occasions. The dining room and TV room also have log fires for cooler months.

The country kitchen is appropriately large and professionally equipped to cater to the full quota of diners. It has an industrial dishwasher to take care of the hard work afterwards. The kitchen also doubles as a breakfast room.

The day room / TV lounge on the ground floor can be prepared as a conference room. Walls are thick here and the Internet may be limited in some areas of the villa. Mobile phone coverage is generally good, although not guaranteed by operators without transmitters in the mountain surroundings.

The mansion sleeping accommodation is almost all situated on the first floor, except for one bedroom on the ground floor which could be convenient for some guests with reduced mobility (this ground floor bedroom would only be available on request). All rooms have en suite facilities and each is different.

Wedding receptions here under the Andalucia sun make for a particularly spectacular occasion. While your booking with Rustical Travel is solely for the accommodation described above, we will be pleased to put you directly in contact with the property manager or event and wedding coordinator for all arrangements connected with the event or nearby accomodation for extra guests. 

The entire property is let on a self-catering basis and only basic cleaning and maintenance of ground floor communal areas and gardens are carried out daily by staff as part of the rental arrangement. Additional cleaning and services (bedrooms, kitchen, meals preparation and serving, laundry, babysitting) must be requested well in advance but enjoy the distinct advantage of direct payment to staff at local rates.

Amenities such café-bars and restaurants or simple shopping can be found in Otivar village, just 5 kilometres away. While the villa is situated in an enviable mild-climate valley location surrounded by mountains and the crystalline wates of the Rio Verde river, Granada's Costa Tropical and its pretty seaside villages and beaches are just a 30 minutes drive away. Vibrant Granada and its rich history are always well worth a visit, all the more so if you are only one hour away from this jewel of a city.

This is a beautiful property with an even more beautiful garden. It was clean and beds and furnishings comfortable and had good internet. However, it does appear a bit dated ( e.g. decor in bathrooms), there is no air conditioning, the dishwasher worked but is old, did not actually clean dishes or function effectively. The TV remotes did not work and the TV was unable to be used. The swimming pool had a wasp problem. Worst of all, the house and garden ( and wider area) have a significant mosquito problem which the property could have warned about and managed better with some provision of mesh in windows, if not aircon. A combination of unmanaged heat and mosquito bites did not make for the most restful holiday."

Great booking service . Very helpful, including owners Amazing property, stunning , please can we buy it!!! great location for peace quiet and amazing walks . Fantastic friendly staff at the property to help you or cater for you. Every thing was perfect. ( one comment the big ants nest out site on th steps next to outside eating area needs addressing or tell the customers to keep there feet moving!! Although Mossys most people went home with dozens of ant bites) We all had a marvellous time . Many thanks"

The Villa was beautiful inside and out and the rooms were perfect. the facilities were exceptional and the staff were very helpful. The whole holiday was better than imagined and the area in which the villa is situated was secluded and quiet perfect for any group who wishes to get away from the busy tourist areas. The gardens were picture perfect and the children and adults all loved it. would love to stay again and explore the areas surrounding it more. Many thanks to all the staff."
