Overview

Those who fall head over heels with the simple things in life will find this sweet cottage with its secret garden vibe an honest delight.

The home may be humble in nature but being surrounded by rugged mountains and gorgeous greenery makes it an inspiring place to stay.

This region of Andalucía oozes authenticity and more than a touch of Moroccan magic with village traditions remaining the same for close to 500 years.

Mecina (where your holiday home sits), is in the heart of La Taha, a place where untapped villages and hamlets invite you to step back in time.

For those craving an off the beaten track feel, this nature lover’s hideaway has got you covered.

Stepping into this whitewashed cottage and you can feel the intimacy.

An open plan living and kitchen space sits scattered with different lamps and a flickering fire for chillier nights, helping to create a cozy vibe that is sure to be welcoming after a day wandering the fabled hills of the Alpujarras.

Upstairs on the first floor, you will find a bathroom and two bedrooms, one of which comes with its own terrace for waking up to those rolling mountain views.

During our visit we flopped down on the double bed and found it quite comfortable.

The pint-sized private garden may not boast acres of space, but the shady pergola, the sizzling barbeque, and the sun loungers are all the ingredients you need for reading, napping, and nibbling in the sweet Spanish sun.

The potted plants and shrubs provide a welcoming cool splash of green.

The first-floor terrace is another sun-splashed spot to sit and drink a cold beer in the evening, after the garden has succumbed to shade.

Being in the Mid Alpajurras means that this area enjoys a softer warmer climate in comparison to its higher neighbors, and a cooler breeze compared to the villages lower down.

This makes Mecina perfectly placed for travelers who enjoy comfortable hikes without the need to take the car.

There are a few restaurants within walking distance meaning that you can easily stumble back home after a night enjoying local fun and fayre.

While the casa doesn’t capture a luxury vibe, it is a solid option for those looking to experience a traditional and simple stay.

YOUR REVIEWS

David | September | 2019

We loved everything about our stay in AP52. The charming rústical house, the lush tinao, the view from both balconies and the delightful quaint village of Mecina. The magical walks between the crooked little houses with the lush plants and flowers. Figs gently plopping off the trees as we walked by and the overriding scent of jasmine. It was a dream location and a memory we shall treasure. We will definitely return. Visitors should be aware that it is not possible to drive to the property and luggage has to be carried up a fairly steep concrete path. We actually borrowed the owners wheelbarrow for that purpose."
