Overview

Many holiday homes are perfectly comfortable and adequately equipped, but just occasionally we come across one like this where you feel like moving in and staying. It is country living with the facilities you'd appreciate in a large family town house.

The location is fabulous, within Sierra de Aracena Natural Park, just over 1 km from Aracena town in one of Andalusia's most picturesque spots. The market town itself is pretty and relaxed, well blessed with places to eat or drink with tapas, there's even a medieval fortress on a hill to look after the easy-going inhabitants. There are plenty of bars and restaurants, a theatre and discos: these people know how to treat themselves!

You arrive at the finca to find yourself amidst mature, well-kept olive groves. The finca is set in grounds of around 10 acres/4 hectares of olive groves with walnuts, fruit trees; there is also a chestnut grove if you walk through the opening in the drystone wall, behind the finca.

A decent sized swimming pool with ample room for sunbathing is situated alongside the house.

The farmhouse villa is splendid. Excellently comfortable and equipped, every room receives our mark of approval. The beamed living room is very spacious and there are three comfy sofas. There's a large fireplace for open fires in cooler months.

The kitchen has all the appliances that make cooking a pleasure. It leads out to a large terrace overlooking the pool and shaded by old olives, where meals can be taken.

The library doubles as an office. For kids, there's a TV room with a video library, and even some toys for small children (on request). Note that this TV room has a confortable sofa-bed and is converted into an extra bedroom for two people when there are 9 of you coming.

There are four upstairs bedrooms. The master double is especially large and en suite. French windows open to a balcony with wonderful views. Beamed ceilings add warmth and character. There are two more bedrooms which are also spacious and bright. The fourth room is smaller and more suitable for children. It has a lower, sloping ceiling, a single bed and a futon that serves as another single.

The area around Aracena is distinctly different from the more rugged regions of Andalusia. Although hilly and wooded, it is more gentle and open, inviting even the less fit to stretch their legs and ramble its slopes. Temperatures are not extreme and usually very kind. It is famed for wild mushrooms and flowers, spring and autumn being particularly good seasons to visit. Horse riding offers a great way to appreciate the outstanding beauty of the locality.

Access is down a slightly bumpy track. Recommended excursions include the village of Jabugo for its famous cured ham, Seville (55 mins) and the marvellous beaches of Costa de la Luz (90 mins). Another interesting choice is Portugal, just 45 mins away.

We had a wonderful holiday at your beautiful house, thank you. The house was absolutely ideal for our family holiday, plenty of places to relax in and a great kitchen to cook in. We loved having long lunches outside on your beautiful terrace before spending the afternoon in the pool. We really enjoyed exploring the area and loved Aracena and the surrounding villages too."

If you are looking for real rural Spain this property is perfect. We loved the location nestled amongst the olive and chestnut trees however be aware that access via the track needs the right vehicle and although the town is walking distance we were there during the hottest period and not practical in the heat with children. The property itself has everything you could possibly want (and more!) and even during the very hot weather (38 degrees) the pool was lovely and cool / cold which was just what we needed. The property’s garden is delightful and the water from the well perfect for drinking. The caves in Arecena were a huge hit and a surprise, the castle has great views and the churros cafe in town was great for a breakfast ( reasonably priced, get there early, service good, try both thin and thick churros including the chocolate sauce and bread buns with squashed tomato ). Don’t be put off by the lack of air con as every room had a big fan and we were advised to shut up the property during the day and open everything at night. With the big thick walls it worked a treat. The property owner and local host were super helpful do ask them questions. If you like walking and are there when it’s cooler it’s a very popular area for Spanish walkers."

We’ve stayed in a lot of holiday rentals and this was by far our favorite. A beautiful farmhouse with lush mature gardens. The pool area with its vine covered gazebo was a joy, and got us through a very hot week! Similarly eating at the patio table listening to distant sheep and donkeys was amazingly peaceful. The house itself is very well provisioned with everything you could think of. This isn’t a bare Airbnb but like staying as a guest in someone’s home. Aracena and the surrounding towns are unspoilt and in many places we were the only English speaking voices although thanks to the friendly wait staff everywhere we always made it through with our almost non existent Spanish. Seville is an hour away and an easy drive for a day or evening excursion. Overall - loved it. Will DEFINITELY return."

The villa exceeded our expectations. A beautiful, comfortable and peaceful villa on the edge of Aracena with a gorgeous pool. The agent, Abel, was extremely helpful and Judith, the owner, responded to any questions we had and was very caring. We’ve been home 6 weeks and we still miss our holiday in Aracena!"

We had a wonderful stay at this rustic villa. We were two families with 5 teenagers between us and the villa, the pool, the outside area worked for us all perfectly. We took visits to the beach, the local villages etc but the villa was just so wonderful we spent most of our time there by the pool. Thank you for making our holiday so relaxed and magical."

We really enjoyed staying in this beautiful villa. There were four of us and had plenty of room. We took all of our meals on the large terrace and it was wonderful. The house feels very cozy. Judith, the owner and Abel the manager were really nice and quickly responded to our few inquiries. We also really enjoyed the surrounding area and region of Aracena. It is beautiful and there are a lot of things to do! I would highly recommend!"

We have stayed in many villas in Europe and this one was the best. A very well laid out, well stocked house it has the added advantage of feeling like a family home (rather than just a rental property). The rural location was lovely as were the local villages, in the whole 2 weeks we did not encounter another English person, which in our book was a bonus!"

We stayed at HA10 for a week in August 2017. The house and grounds were incredible. We did not realise that this house was a family home, rather than just a holiday let. So the attention to detail was fantastic. The specification was very high. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone. It was fantastic. So close to local amenities, lovely pool, fantastic beautiful gardens, great interior."

We had a fantastically lazy week at this most beautiful Spanish finca just outside Aracena. We were a family of 5 and had everything we could possibly need - fully equipped kitchen, plenty of bathrooms (though best not to try using them all at once), a beautiful pool, amazing gardens, not to mention libraries full of lovely books and DVDs and even puzzles. We had intended to explore the area more fully than we did, but instead were content to sit among the olive trees reading, swimming, playing cards etc., having already had a week's exploring in Seville Cadiz. However, there clearly is plenty to do in the area, such as lake swimming, hiking, horse-riding and exploring the villages dotted around the nearby hills. We did explore Aracena, which was bigger than expected and more than covered our needs re supermarket shopping and occasional meals/drinks out. The walk up to the castle and church at the top of the hill was well worth it. We were warmly welcomed upon arrival by Abel, the key holder, who speaks very good English and was on hand to help us with bookings and general information. I would draw attention to the gardens here; although mid summer and very dry, the gardens immediately around the house are all irrigated and are absolutely beautiful. Sitting on the terrace to enjoy them was a delight. I would obviously recommend the house!"
